FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which Data Drop device fits which job, and how they work with the meters you already have.
Which product lets me read meters with a phone?
WDCR. It is a USB wireless M-Bus and SensusRF receiver that turns an Android phone or tablet into a handheld reader, and it doubles as a configuration tool for wireless M-Bus modules.
What is the difference between Mac-IQ and Hydropulsar?
Both attach to a mechanical meter with an inductive sensor. Mac-IQ transmits over NB-IoT or LTE Cat-M mobile networks and needs no local infrastructure. Hydropulsar transmits over short, medium and long-range RF (OMS and SensusRF) to nearby receivers, repeaters or gateways, and is designed for Sensus meters.
When do I need an Echo Rep instead of a SensusRF Gateway?
Echo Rep is a battery-powered IoT gateway for reading SensusRF and OMS telegrams where mains power is not available. The SensusRF Gateway is 240 V powered, takes up to 5,000 endpoints and backhauls over 4G, GPRS or Ethernet, which suits high-rise buildings and fixed networks.
Are the products compatible with meters from other manufacturers?
Mac-IQ works with mechanical meters from Elster, Itron, Sensus, Diehl and Maddalena. Echo Rep and the SensusRF Gateway read any SensusRF or OMS-capable meter or module.
Where can I get datasheets and inline water meters?
Each product on this page has a downloadable datasheet. Inline meters such as the Sensus Cordonel (DN50), Sensus iPerl (DN40) and S640 (DN20) are supplied through Strongcast, Data Drop’s parent company.
